With an impressive journey spanning over three decades in the fire engineering sector, we’re delighted to welcome Chris Houchen to the team.
Bringing a wealth of experience that’s both broad and deep, particularly in the realm of timber-based doorsets and fire safety assessments, Chris’s career began at the helm of a fire test laboratory, formerly known as Chiltern International Fire Limited/BM Trada and now part of the Warringtonfire group. His tenure involved spearheading numerous tests, primarily focused on timber-based doorsets, laying the groundwork for his subsequent roles authoring ‘Project Specific’ and ‘Global/Field of Application’ assessment reports and audits of fire door manufacturers and installers.
His expertise was further sought after at Halspan, one of the UK’s leading door blank manufacturers. Here, Chris played a pivotal role in enhancing the fire, mechanical, and acoustic properties of their extensive product range while also extending his support to their clientele in the UK and Middle East.
Chris will primarily extend his technical acumen to our expanding team of fire engineers and consultants. He is also keen to leverage his extensive experience in aiding timber-based door, hardware, and firestopping companies in their product development endeavours.
We’re excited about the wealth of knowledge and expertise Chris brings to Ashton Fire. His dedication to advancing fire safety and a keen interest in product development mirrors our ethos of continuous learning and innovation.
For any technical support or to explore potential product development collaborations, Chris is reachable at chris.houchen@ashtonfire.com and 07907867415.
