Our recent team event in Bruges was a fantastic opportunity for us to come together, share knowledge and strengthen our collaborative spirit.

The day began with a general business update, bringing the entire team up to speed on the latest developments and future plans for the company.

The remainder of the day was packed with engaging workshops and presentations designed to enhance our skills and knowledge in various aspects of fire safety and engineering.

Led by Gareth Green, our In Construction workshop had us working in small groups to assess whether the materials used in a given scenario were suitable for the type of building. This hands-on activity encouraged us to apply our expertise and make critical decisions based on the information provided.

Rachel Dobson delivered an insightful session focused on post-occupation fire safety. Her workshop emphasised the importance of ongoing safety measures and assessments after a building is occupied, ensuring long-term protection for its residents and users.

Michael Kinsey’s presentation on cognitive biases in fire engineering was particularly thought-provoking. He discussed how these biases can impact our decision-making processes, especially in critical areas like fire safety. The session highlighted the need for awareness and strategies to mitigate these biases.

Charlie Hopkin’s Magic Number quiz and workshop brought an element of fun and learning. This interactive session tested our knowledge and analytical skills in a light-hearted yet educational manner, bringing out some of our competitive streaks!

Finally, Gabriel Risco, Louise Larkin, and Harry McDaid shared their insights and learning from the SFPE Europe Conference 2024.

Our day concluded with a delightful evening meal at Bistro Zwart Huis.

Our team away events are always a perfect blend of learning, collaboration and camaraderie. We firmly believe they bring us together and reinforce our strong team spirit, ensuring we stay at the forefront of fire safety and engineering.

We look forward to the next one.
