Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) company policy refers to our responsibility toward our environment, community, and the people we work with. At the core of who we are as an organisation is to always aspire to best practice, work in support and harmony with others and our environment. This policy will reflect Ashton Fire Limited’s commitment to ensuring that any business undertakings are conducted as ethically as possible.

We are a company driven by our values; delivering innovation, aspiring and inspiring best practice and acting with integrity. Our values define our culture, they bind us together and unite us in our differences, making us collectively stronger. They underpin our mission to delivery high quality fire safety consultancy in harmony with the environment and our communities.

This document will serve as a guide to all staff, suppliers, and clients of Ashton Fire to achieve best practice and ensure our company ethos is at the heart of how we operate.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

CSR refers to the way in which businesses regulate themselves in order to ensure that all their activities positively affect society as a whole. CSR policies aim to guarantee that companies work ethically, considering human rights as well as the social, economic and environmental impacts of what they do as a business. Businesses should meet, and aim to exceed, any relevant legislation, and if legislation does not exist in a particular area, the company should ensure they carry out best practices anyway.


This policy applies to our company, all staff, suppliers and in some instances partners.

Our social responsibility falls under two categories: compliance and proactiveness. Compliance refers to our commitment to legality and willingness to observe community values. Proactiveness is every initiative to promote human rights, help communities and protect our natural environment.

We recognise that in order to deliver to a high standard service it is vital to ensure that our staff are happy and have a positive workplace environment. In order to do this we have implemented a series of measures

All suppliers current and prospective undergo a review process whereby we analyse whether the organisation matches and/or exceeds our expectations with respect to;

Each approved supplier will undergo an annual review.

Protecting the Environment

Our planet is facing a crisis with urbanisation, climate change and human activity creating some incredibly challenging hurdles to overcome. Which is why Ashton Fire has committed to working towards becoming a ‘Climate Neutral’ organisation by 2030. Carbon is not the only greenhouse gas that we should be concerned about which is why we have taken steps to look at our environmental ‘Climate’ impact. Ashton Fire have placed to following measures;

  • Work from home and flexible working policy means our team have reduced commuting expectations.
  • Encouraging the use of hybrid and electric vehicles by incentivising with higher reimbursement for mileage.
  • Regular environmental awareness training and communications.
  • Creating an Ashton Fire Environmental Trust in 2021 which will raise funds for local environmental projects in our community.
  • Nominated responsible persons in the organisation to take ownership over our environmental policy, actions, and impacts.
  • We achieved our ISO14001 in 2020 and remain committed to maintain this certification.
Community Engagement

Our primary objective in all our business activities is life safety. Ensuring we use our skills, competence, and experience to empower fire safety compliance for our clients in the workplace and residential buildings. Not only do we want to be protecting the lives from the cause and consequence of fire, but we also are committed to taking additional steps to add value to the communities we serve. We have put the following measures in place;

  • Our ethos and quality policy mandates we are always friendly, approachable, and aware of other the people in the environments we work.
  • Our advisory services are honest, transparent and communicated clearly, we place integrity at the center of our deliverables and will not compromise life safety to the people and/or communities who occupy the buildings.
  • We have provided free fire risk assessments to selected charities and will continue to do so contact charities in the future to offer our services.
  • Our strong principles in diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-bullying are backed with policy, training and we are committed to ensuring a safe environment in all our business activities.
  • We have partnered with a charity, Generating Genius who encourage opportunity, growth and learning in the STEM subjects with young, disadvantaged school and university students from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in cities across the UK.  We sponsor their silver programme and provide;

–   Annual financial support

–   Annual work experience placement.

–   Annual summer placement paid at London living wage.

–   Insight and challenge events.

–   Support, mentoring and advice when requested.

Targets, Monitoring, and measuring

Our CSR policy will be subject to an annual audit and targets monitored at each quarterly business review meeting. The following areas will be monitored and measured to drive improvements every year. Areas which will be covered;

1.     100% completion of new start induction training covering;

  • Anti-racism, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Anti-bullying
  • Well-being, mental health in the workplace
  • Ethics, social value and the corporate social responsibility policy
  • Environment

2.     At a minimum Annual team training for all team members

3.     Written impact report of Ashton Fire Environmental Trust and annual objectives review.

4.     Maintain ISO 14001 certification annually.

5.     Impact of our work with Generating Genius which can be measured in applications to Ashton Fire for roles or summer placements.
